Art, Not Apart
Art, Not Apart is a many-arts festival focused on the making and interactivity of art. The day blurs the boundaries of art to show that art is not apart from our lives, but reflects the fun and strange world we witness and create. To show this, a wide spectrum of artists build a day without divide.
The festival is largely comprised of creative spaces run by an artist or arts organisation. As well as creative spaces, there will be clothing designers, a kids curator playing beside the jumping castle, two carefully-curated exhibitions, suitcase markets, organic food stalls, central performance stage and three cafes around the festival.
But art is not limited to a set space! Objects will hang from trees, clowns will jump in front of you, dancers will spin through the lane and there'll be more music off stage than on. There's well over 100 artists involved in this amazing day. Details of these people and organisations will be continually added to the website and the facebook event.
Festival Curator Becca Chandler gives her inside tip:
"There'll be an exhibition of each of the Oculi photographers around the theme 'Life As Art'. The Canberra Symphony Orchestra is doing a talk and performance on classical and jazz, and Melbourne electronica producer Hypnagog will delicately twist people's minds!"
