Join historian Allen Mawer for part 2 of the Old, Old Acton tour. This will be a leisurely walk around upper Acton Ridge, looking back into the early history of the area, and comparing old photos with new vistas.

Design at Mount Stromlo


Join ANU staff and researchers for a tour of the Mount Stromlo Observatory, with an opportunity to view some of the oldest and most significant research facilities in Canberra. End with afternoon tea at the newly-opened Scope Café (own expense).

Stories of Acton and Central Canberra, from Ancient Geology to Modern Geography


A walk around the scenic foreshores of Lake Burley Griffin’s West Basin with insights into the ancient and modern geology of Canberra provided by Dr Doug Finlayson (Geological Society ACT). End with refreshments at The National Museum (own expense). 
 

Meeting Point: Outside the entrance to the National Capital Exhibition, Regatta Point, Barrine Drive, Commonwealth Park. 

End: National Museum (20 minutes walk back to starting point)
